Miss Vanity, aka Johnny Bruner, builds a following at Inland clubs
On Friday nights at Riverside’s VIP Nightclub and Restaurant, 27-year-old Johnny Bruner sits in front of a lighted mirror in a cramped dressing room backstage.
Beside him is a palette of colors, a makeup kit filled with the blushes and eye shadows he’ll use to transform himself into Miss Vanity Halston.
Bruner is a full-time, professional drag queen. While you wouldn’t guess it if you met him on the street, onstage he’s a glamorous and convincing woman, with die-hard fans who catch every show.
