It is not every day a two-metre tall professional cross-dresser and a circus midget come visiting sleepy Nieu-Bethesda.
But in the secluded village made famous by acclaimed playwright Athol Fugard (who owns a home there), the Owl House and the high quality of wool from the merino sheep on the surrounding farms, the appearance of the strange duo passed virtually unnoticed. With three show-business companions – one a waitress – they booked into a bed and breakfast for the night.
