Ordinances work to combat discrimination

Discrimination in Salt Lake City on the basis of race, gender, age, disabilities, religion, and, more recently, sexual orientation are all now illegal with the help of Mayor Ralph Becker, who has pushed for more ordinances that combat discrimination in the workplace and leased residences. A new campaign, meant to educate employees and employers about refugee and immigrant workers’ rights comes in the wake of November’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender anti-discrimination bill.
