When a Boy Wants a Tutu

As Halloween nears I got an email from a reader, B., who is looking for advice. She is trying to do the right thing for her son, who isn’t like the other boys he knows, and she asked me to ask Motherlode readers for advice. (She has also asked that I use initials in the place of full names, to protect her son’s privacy.)

She writes:

Our son, M., is five. From the time he was born, or it seems that way anyway, he has liked pink, and sparkles and bows and the things you usually think of when you think of girls.
