Lowercase-loving k.d. lang has fashioned a career out of bucking stereotypes.
Though initially spurred by a fascination with Patsy Cline, she didn’t fit the standard roles established by Nashville, Tenn.’s reigning women when her tomboyish figure twirled onto the scene 25 years ago.
Since then, Canadian-born Kathryn Dawn Lang, who plays the Opera House tomorrow night, has remained chameleonic: gender-bending drag king, breezy pop singer/songwriter, interpretive songbook crooner, soundtrack composer, film and television actress, PETA activist and more.
