Mumbai: A Marathi short film, portraying the mental trauma of a transexual man, who is ostracised by the society, has been selected for the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival to be held from February 28 to March 6,2008.
“A transexual person is one who feels and behaves like opposite sex. The film titled `Why’ , tries to understand their psyche and mental trauma,”said the film’s producer and director, Aashish Kulkarni. “The film questions the society’s approach and attitude towards this section of people, who are ostracised by the society for no fault of their’s,” Kulkarni said.
