“It’s been challenging,” Mfenyana laughs. “It’s a great opportunity for me to play an up-and-coming black character who’s very professional. It’s rare to find a gay character who isn’t comic relief. I’m sure he’ll be a role model for both gay and straight people.”
Mfenyana auditioned for the role in November of last year. After assorted yes’s and no’s, he was deemed perfect for the role.
