(CBS13) Police believe it was greed that landed the suspect behind bars. The case took a twist when family members or the elderly person became surprised to find out he was a she.
“This person has chosen to live his life as a female,” said Sgt. Charlie Spruill, Vacaville Police.
Officers in Vacaville were not fooled and Penina Tawake has been charged with embezzlement and elderly abuse.
“He apparently gained the trust of the victim and victim’s family,” said Sgt. Spruill.
Investigators say Tawake presented himself as a female to a family who needed an in-home care taker for an elderly person in Vacaville.
