Salem: Krishnan alias Divya is a transgender by nature and by choice.
Her struggle to fulfil her dream of joining teachers training was realized on Saturday. Divya had to battle on several fronts, especially with her own physiology that was male in form but rapidly turning more feminine while crossing her teenage.
Poverty was another impediment to her ambitions. I chose to remain a female for the rest of my life when things started falling apart after I completed my higher secondary, said Divya, daughter of Vaiyapuri of Idangana Slai near Salem.
