Granville – Sylvia Brown said the stories that accompanied the photos of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people at an exhibition in Granville were fascinating.
But outside the room in First Baptist Church where the show was held, protesters from Warsaw, Ohio, held signs condemning the show as anti-Christian.
The traveling exhibition ?Love Makes a Family: Portraits of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender People and Their Families? received two reactions Thursday on its opening day. The show consists of about 20 mostly black-and-white photos of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and their families with testimonials from the family members. The show?s main point is that when it comes to families, it?s not sexual orientation, but love that matters.
Brown, a Denison University professor and a lesbian, said one story about a bisexual man and his partner ?turned conventional ideas upside down and made you rethink things.?
