Donna Ross came out very publicly in Portland, Ore., before moving to Kansas City a few years ago. In April, she was in the news for her testimony to Kansas City’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee of City Council, in which she supported changing the city’s civil rights ordinance to protect expressions of gender identity.
Jamie Tyroler: Donna, thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. Let’s start off with your early life. You’re originally from Portland, Ore. What were you doing before you came to Kansas City?
