Federal Protection For Trannies On The Table In Canada

Right now only a handful of provinces in Canada protect transgender folk from discrimination, but Bill Siksay, a New Democratic (that’s the furthest-to-the-left party for you Americans) Member of Parliament from British Columbia, wants to take it to the federal level with a new bill re-introduced this year (he introduced it last year too, but it got lost when election time came around).

Siksay, who is a homo, says of the bill, “This Bill is essential as it addresses the lack of explicit protection for transsexual and transgender people in the Canadian Human Rights Act.”

Gays were only added to the Human Rights Act in 1994. It’s about time that Canada protected the rest of us.
