New funding for sex change therapy in Wales will save lives, it was claimed yesterday.

Men and women who feel trapped in a body of the wrong gender now stand a better chance of getting gender reassignment therapy, following a change in Health Commission Wales policy.

Donna Gee, a sports journalist who grew up in Wales and once wrote for the Western Mail as Gerry Greenberg, said the announcement was a “wonderful thing” which could prevent deaths.
