Gender-inclusive dorms gain support

After approval from the Residential Advisory Council and University Residence directors, Western may see gender-inclusive housing by the 2011-2012 school year.
The Student Senate, Residence Hall Association and the Associated Students Board of Directors have all approved the proposal. The proposal will be up for decision under the council by the end of January.

The gender-inclusive housing proposal would provide on-campus housing options for transgender students, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender alliance (LGBTA) students, intersex students who do not identify as female or male, siblings of different genders and students who may feel comfortable living with a roommate of a different gender.
