Greg Garant wanted to talk with reporters during the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Day of Silence Friday, but was unable to speak.
Instead, student demonstrators who stood silent in the Faner Hall breezeway wore facemasks and answered questions by typing messages into a laptop computer.
The Day of Silence draws attention to anti-GLBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools, according to the event’s Web site. The nationwide event was recognized by hundreds of thousands of high school and college students across the country.
