Dear Dr Cath…
I’M 36 and after years of denial, I came out as a gay transvestite eight years ago. My family have fully accepted me.
I live full-time as a woman and have found a man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I want to have a complete sex-change operation, but he is against it. I can’t understand this as he loves me being feminine. I love him and don’t want to lose him but feel the need to have the operation.
Dr Cath says…
SOCIETY now recognises that some people feel their physical and psychological gender don’t match and surgery can help them realign their body to reflect how they feel.
