The Imperial Court of San Francisco Inc. in conjunction with H.M.I.M. Emperor Michael Dumont & H.M.I.M. Empress Chika presented “Coronation 2008: Star-struck, Be Jeweled, Be Dazzled” on Feb. 23 at the Gift Center Pavilion. In the opening number, reigning Miss Gay, BeBe Sweetbriar, almost became victim to a gang of dastardly jewel thieves as she lip-synced “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend.” The bad guys lipped “Steppin’ to the Bad Side” from Dreamgirls and “When You’re a Jet” from West Side Story. With the screaming of sirens and flashing of red lights, cops arrived to throw the burglars in jail, but apparently BeBe had an attraction to one of the handsome rogues, bailing them out while “singing” Grease’s “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “We’ll Always Be Together.” I guess crime does pay!
