South Beach has long been home to one of the country’s largest gay communities.
But this year will be the first that the city plays host to its own Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade and Festival — a day when gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people can come together to celebrate their diversity.
On Saturday, the stretch of Ocean Drive from Fifth to 15th streets will be closed to traffic for a parade of floats, sky-diving demonstrations and performers as part of the first Miami Beach Pride event.
