Lahore, July 17 Shumail Raj, a transsexual jailed for going through with a same-sex marriage and perjury, was released on bail from Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail on Monday.

According to the Daily Times, Shumail left the prison premises with his mother and brother for Faisalabad.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) had sentenced Shumail to three years imprisonment on May 28. He was given a separate room in the women’s block and treated as a woman.

His perjury sentence was appealed at the Supreme Court, which allowed him bail. However, even after the bail grant, Shumail was kept in custody because he could not come up with the bail money. After 18 days, however, his mother was able to take him home.
