Netizens: Transvestite phenomenon distorts youth values – People’s Daily Online

An online survey shows that 52 percent of netizens believe the transvestite phenomenon, or Weiniang phenomenon (refers to a man who dresses like a woman and who prides himself on looking beautiful and sexy), will mislead the values of contemporary Chinese youth.

In addition, 19 percent of netizens show great interest in the transvestite topic and pay much attention to it, while 73 percent of netizens know very little about the issue and do not concern themselves with it and 8 percent of netizens have no idea what the transvestite phenomenon is and have never cared about it.
