Peter LaBarberaA conservative activist is expressing alarm over president-elect Barack Obama’s plan to expand a Clinton-era executive order that provides special protections for federal employees based on their sexual behavior.
The Obama-Biden transition team has included both “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” in its non-discrimination policy for applicants for employment in the incoming Obama administration. President Bush, much to the chagrin of many social conservatives, did not overturn Bill Clinton’s executive order prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. However, the Clinton order does not address so-called gender identity.
