Marsha Botzer is a long-time national leader of the transgender community, most recently serving as national co-chair of the Obama campaign’s network of LGBT activists – Obama Pride. Marsha was the first transgender co-chair of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Board of Directors. In her home state of Washington, she served on the board of the Pride Foundation, was a founding member of the Seattle Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center, and is a co-chair of the Seattle chapter of the Safe Schools Coalition.
Marsha is a founding member and current board member of Equal Rights Washington. She also founded Seattle’s Ingersoll Gender Center and continues to support its work. In 2004 Marsha received the Horace Mann “Victories for Humanity” Award from Antioch University. In 2004 Marsha received the Virginia Prince Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Federation for Gender Education, and in 2007 Marsha received the Task Force Leadership Award.
