An Oxfam charity store has launched an “Oxtran” shopping night to cater exclusively to the transgender community, its manager said today.

The first of the shopping sessions took place last night, with the shop in Duncan Street, Leeds, playing host to cross-dressers, transsexuals and drag queens in search of plus size women`s clothing.

Shop manager Sally Stone, who came up with the idea, said the oversized garments were being sorted at the central warehouse and sent to the store specially for the events.

The main demand was expected to be for oversized stilettos, with accessories and plus size clothing also on sale.

She said: “It`s a great opportunity to be able to shop without feeling you have to pretend you are shopping for your girlfriend.
