House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told the Bay Area Reporter this week that she remains undecided on moving forward with a bill to protect transgender people in the workplace.

In her first gay press interview since news broke of a plan to push for a gay-only version of the workplace non-discrimination bill instead of the trans-inclusive bill that was introduced earlier this year, Pelosi said she will wait to see if LGBT lobbyists can muster up enough votes to include gender identity in the bill before determining how to move forward.

“We are not moving forward with anything until we see what happens over the next few weeks,” said Pelosi during a 30-minute phone interview with the B.A.R. Tuesday, October 9. “No decision has been made to go forward with a non-transgender inclusive bill.”
