Queen for a day

It’s a few hours before showtime and backstage is pandemonium.

The incessant buzz of performers vying to get a spot at a make-up table or mirror to check their do or even a snippet of privacy to get their dresses on, can be… well frankly, hell.

“It can get pretty tough back there,” laughs Willie Taylor. “Being a woman for a few hours a few times a week is enough; you women have it rough.

“The damn routine the nylons, the shoes, the make-up, the hair, the nails – it’s very expensive. It takes a lot of time and it’s painful wearing high heels.”
