The exhibition Gagasmicism is Pan Pan Narkprasert’s second solo show in his home city since returning from studies at UCLA in 2010. The first, entitled Kiss My Reers, was held at H Gallery last year and to compare them is to see less a line of development than a shift in references for this artist and “Thailand’s Only Waacking Drag-Queen Extraordinaire” (as he is proclaimed in a press release). While Kiss My Reers played with the form of children’s fairytales to perverse ends, here Pan Pan takes on the queer enthrallment with idol worship – with distinctly local ramifications.
