Anchorage Daily News – Kristina Church – Daily News theatre reviewer
There are some times when you go to the theater and you just have a fantastic time, even as a reviewer. Friday night was such a night. It was impossible not to get swept up in the collective excitement that is the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and impossible not to emerge from Mad Myrna’s smiling broadly and singing a catchy tune. All I can say is …
You’ve gotta go …
To the Late-night
Double Feature
Picture Show.
This is simply one of the best cabaret-style shows I have seen, and the venue is an ideal place to view this subversive piece of musical theater, whether for the first or the hundredth time. The lead performers are all perfectly cast by director Christian Heppinstall. Janet Weiss, played by Veronica Page, is a blonde bimbo who melts out of her apparent frigidity into quite a hot tamale. Stuart Masterson as Brad Majors has a nerdy but engaging quality that turns ambiguously knowing as the show goes on.
