Fans of edgy, comic rock musicals filled with outrageous drag queens and crazed bio-females should rush out to see Scalpel! The Killer Rock Musical at Brava Theater Center. This totally rock-out farce is by writer/director D’Arcy Drollinger and features a cast of local favorites that is guaranteed to draw huge crowds. Everything about the show is fabulous, from the costumes to the wigs, a live orchestra playing lively tunes, and scenes packed with action. One of the clever devices used in the show is a half dozen stage hands dressed in chic black from head to toe, utilized to move props and scenery as if hurtling through space on their own. A looming pair of giant eyes, nose, and mouth are enough to scare anyone into plastic surgery.
