Two new queer organizations have formed in Washington in recent months – one is charity based and uses fun events to raise money; the other plans to open a shop/public space but is ramping up to a planned fall opening by starting educational sex events now.
Tate, who goes by his last name and declines to give his first, is a 24-year-old Iowa native who’s been in D.C. nearly five years and identifies as genderqueer, a term he says doesn’t see gender as binary and shuns traditional male or female identifications. Tate, who performs weekly at BeBar with the D.C. Kings, a local drag king troupe, noticed the bar was mostly empty for a few hours before the Kings performed.
