Here’s how David Krom turns into entertainer Dede Deville
Q. What?s your origin?
A. I?m a little bit crazy, a little bit of a chameleon. I came out in the early ?90s and was out at the bars. And I saw a show in Topeka once, and I just wasn?t that impressed and leaned to a friend and said, ?Well, I could do better.? And so, sort of as a dare, I did it once, and here it is 12 years later. It just sort of stuck.
You must be very good.
Oh, some people like me. I?ve done shows in several other cities in my career, but I?m mainly local. There?s always a local scene, and you know all the girls that perform.
Does it breed competition?
There is always a bit of that.
Jealousy?
Yes, of course. Particularly in drag, because drag boils down to two things: It?s how you look and if you have talent. And you can learn looks. But you can?t learn talent.
