Gary, Ind. Wednesday is graduation day for an Indiana high school student who made the news recently for being denied access to his own prom.
Kevin Logan, a senior at Gary West Side High School, was banned from senior prom because he wanted to wear a dress.
Today, Logan will wear the same gown as everyone else during the ceremony, but will be wearing women?s clothing and high heels underneath.
When Logan arrived at his senior prom last month, he was banned by Principal Diana Rouse. His family filed a complaint with the Indiana Civil Liberties Union.
Kevin and his mother, Donnetta Logan, both believe Rouse might have been discriminating against his sexual orientation and cross-dressing.
?I?m gay. I?m a drag queen,? Kevin said at the time.
Sylvester Rowan, assistant to Gary Schools Superintendent Mary Steele, said the decision to exclude Logan was based on ?the dress code, not the student?s homosexuality. That?s his personal preference.?
Rowan said it is school policy that males can?t wear dresses.
