To help kick off its first annual Pride Week, the Wayne State Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Alliance painted “the rock” in Gullen Mall.
But it was just the beginning of what group Co-President Tiff Thompson hopes will open the eyes of WSU students to becoming more tolerant of the GLBT community.
“We have average tolerance on campus, and it’s not so much that people aren’t accepting, but they lack the knowledge,” Thompson said. “I’ve had problems in classes, sometimes with professors. They may say some things that are offensive but not mean to.”
