He was the glamorous reigning Miss Africa Queen and looking forward to defending his drag queen title later this year. Instead, Eastern Cape teenager Jonathan Tutu, 19, committed suicide last week straight after seeing his beloved cousin hacked to death by gangsters.
Rather than live with the gruesome image of Marlin Tutu, 20, lying outside a Buffalo Flats video arcade almost decapitated, Jonathan went home and swallowed about 200 of his mother‘s sleeping tablets. He died in Frere Hospital hours later.
This week his distraught parents spoke affectionately about the boy who loved to dress up to the nines in his female friends‘ clothes and do everyone‘s hair.
