Court of Kings’ pageant blazes the way for new talent
While most competitions are somewhat divisive by nature, the Court of Kings hopes to achieve the exact opposite with its seventh annual Kingdom Come pageant, which hits My Sisters’ Room on April 19.
“This year’s a different year for us,” says Owen McCord, a founding member of what is potentially the longest-running drag king troupe in the country. “Traditionally, we’ve always had candidates that come in from a certain community; it’s always been mostly the white lesbian community.”
