Chennai: Around 20,000 transgenders, kothis and marginalised women from across the State have come together to set up a federation that will deal exclusively with their needs including healthcare, education, advocacy and financial literacy.
Close to 1,000 people gathered here on Tuesday for the formal launch of the TN TAI Vizhudagal Federation. The federation was launched under the aegis of the Tamil Nadu AIDS Initiative (TAI), an NGO, along with Voluntary Health Services. The membership is expected to touch 37,000 by January.
