A judge ruled incarceration would threaten the man’s safety.
A transsexual convicted last month of harassing his former spouse through e-mail was sent to jail for a day yesterday.
Michael Wilson, 45, would have been sentenced to a week in custody but Ontario Court Justice Gregory Pockele said jail would be “quite threatening” to Wilson’s safety.
Wilson — who would be processed by the jail, then released — is “not an appropriate candidate to be housed in the male population” and would likely have to be put in segregation, Pockele said.
