Barbara leans in, her hand fluttering nervously over the table.
“I always knew I wasn’t homosexual,” she says, a coy grin spreading across her face. “I’m very much a straight girl.”
At 27, Barbara is only now discovering the joy, exhilaration and mystery of dating – and loving it. In fact, she’s the happiest she’s ever been, with a rewarding job in high tech, an active social life and a family that loves her dearly.
And the best is yet to come. In September, Barbara will board a plane for Montreal. When she returns to Edmonton a few weeks later, she will at long last have the body that fits her spirit.
She’ll be a woman.
