A unique, one-credit winter elective for all UCSF students will focus on an area of health care that is receiving long-overdue attention: the concerns of lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender (LGBT) patients. Even those of us who will be based outside the Bay Area after UCSF can be sure that we’ll be working with LGBT patients – and this elective is designed to give us the knowledge we’ll need to provide them with effective care. Known as the LGBTI Health Issues Forum, the elective is scheduled for Friday night, February 27, and Saturday, February 28, in Cole Hall.
