A member of Geelong’s gay community has blasted organisers of a gay nightclub for operating in secrecy.
Caleb Smythe, a drag queen, said Geelong was not as homophobic as people believed and there was no need to conceal the venue’s location.
He said the concept was oppressive.
“I don’t understand how the gay community can still be like this and hide who we really are,” he said.
“There are so many gay people out there who are constantly playing the victim instead of living a normal life and by having an underground nightclub is ridiculous and pushing us back in the closet.
