The US has terminated the ban that excluded HIV-positive travelers and immigrants from the country, calling an end to the 23-year discriminatory policy, and demonstrating an attempt to take the lead in combating the disease, the BBC reported Monday.
The new rule, which took effect Monday, makes good on a promise made last October, when President Barack Obama signed the Ryan White HIV/ Aids Treatment Extension Act, which was initiated in 1990 with an eye on ensuring access to much-needed HIV/AIDS care and treatment.
