Jessica Cooper says transgender people constantly face negative stereotypes, the risk of violence, and the threat of losing their jobs, homes, and families.

So, the 46-year-old transsexual woman and transgender-rights activist is helping organize an event to celebrate the positive aspects of the lives of local trans, gender-variant, and genderqueer people.

On May 3, Gender Euphoria, Vancouver’s second annual celebration of gender, will take over Heritage Hall (3102 Main Street).
