No commitment from Auerbach on how agency will act in budget crisis
Members of the Massachusetts Commission on GLBT Youth questioned John Auerbach, director of the state Department of Public Health (DPH), on the agency’s approach to LGBT issues during the current budget crisis. During a question-and-answer session at its Dec. 15 meeting in Hyde Park, commission member Arthur Lipkin urged Auerbach to refocus his agency’s LGBT programs to prioritize LGBT youth of color and transgender youth. He said he worried that the budget crisis might dissuade DPH from doing so.
