Amherst, MA: On Friday, April 3, Tina Antolini, a 2000 graduate of Georges Valley High School in Thomaston, will receive an Associated Press award from the Massachusetts/Rhode Island Associated Press at a ceremony at the Holiday Inn in Brookline, Mass.

Antolini also has been picked for a Gracie Award from the American Women in Radio and Television, which will be awarded June 4 during the 34th annual Gracie Awards Luncheon at the Tavern on the Green in New York City.

Antolini is a reporter and producer at WFCR FM in Amherst, a National Public Radio affiliate. Antolini received both awards for her three-part series “Voices of the Transgender Community in Western Massachusetts.” The series profiles several transgender residents in Western New England, exploring their lives and transitions from one gender to another. It then turns to the transgender community’s struggles to pass civil rights legislation in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
