When organizers for gay film festivals are deciding which films to put on their rosters, you wonder if they have some sort of checklist. Do we have a sexy “circle of life” drama? How ’bout a sympathetic portrayal of gay dads? Is there a coming-out saga? And transsexuals! Where are the transsexuals?
The answers to those questions and more can be found at the 13th Annual Portland Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, which opens a one-week run on Friday at Cinema 21. More than 15 feature films will get their Portland debut, offering a unique opportunity to sample new takes on global gay and lesbian culture.
