Humiliation for cops who revealed girlfriend’s gender

Two policemen’s lives “cannot get any lower” after privacy breach convictions for telling a man his girlfriend used to be a male and he had been “rooting a bloke”.

Their lawyer, Joe Klarica, says the convictions will result in loss of their jobs, one had already lost his marriage and both had suffered public humiliation.

But Fleur Sullivan, for the crown, reminded Magistrate Glenn Bartley he had found the officers’ motivation for telling Garrick Jacobson his girlfriend had been a male had been to embarrass and humiliate him.
