Santa Fe – Jonah Jeter was 17 when investigators say he repeatedly stabbed a transvestite, killing him in the lot of a truck stop east of Gallup.

Jeter told McKinley County sheriff’s investigators that the transvestite, Oliver Yazzie, had attacked him from behind. Jeter said he killed Yazzie in self-defense.

Sri Mullis, an assistant attorney general, on Tuesday argued to the New Mexico Supreme Court that DNA evidence tells a different story — one of sex and murder.
