They carried signs reflecting their beliefs in gay and lesbian rights Saturday. They also lifted their voices in protest against a nightclub where a fellow lesbian said she was assaulted because of her sexual orientation.

About 20 protesters shouted, “Tequila Joe’s has to close. Tequila Joe’s has to close,” in a Saturday evening protest march in the nightclub’s parking lot.

Miranda Greer, 24, of Halls said a man beat her with a beer bottle on July 15 at the nightclub, located in the Hamilton Hills Shopping Center.
And police have issued an arrest warrant for Tyler C. Mansfield, 22, who they said took part in the scuffle that left Greer partially blind in one eye.

Mansfield is facing an aggravated assault charge in connection with the incident.
