There was more than just a trim and some chit-chat on offer for customers at a popular hair salon.
Dressed in a garish pink blouse, tabard, denim skirt and cheap blue slippers, Adrienne provoked baffled glances from onlookers.
Artist Adrian Howells brought his transvestite alter-ego performance piece to Byron’s Hair Salon in Church Street, Lancaster.
Presented by the Nuffield Theatre, it is a dialogue between Adrienne and one audience member that takes place among the usual day-to-day activities of the salon.
Adrian said: “I was commissioned to do this by the Battersea Arts Centre in London as they wanted artists to create work out in the community.
“I thought a salon would be good because my work is about exploring the confessional and looking at ideas of intimacy.
