Hello, my name is Bella Jay and I am the event coordinator for the Sparkle weekend 2008. Sparkle takes place in Manchester, England, 27-29th June 2008. We have a brand-new look to our web site this year, so please do come and take a look as we start the countdown to this year’s Sparkle weekend.
Sparkle 2008 – The National Transgendered Celebration
If you have been to Sparkle before then you don’t need me to tell you how much fun it is and what a great place it is for making new friends and meeting up with hundreds of other T-girls and T-boys! I guess however some of you may still be wondering what Sparkle is all about.
Sparkle was founded in 2005 as a national day of TG celebration. Over subsequent years it has grown to become a full weekend-long festival of all things TG! Sparkle is a celebration of gender diversity, an opportunity to make new friends and obtain help, support and information on gender issues. But above all it is our chance to be proud of who we are and show the world what being TG is all about. The most important person at Sparkle is you, this is your weekend so make the most of it and enjoy being yourself amongst friends!
Sparkle is the largest TG gathering in the World and also unique in that it takes place in the bars, clubs and streets of Manchester, rather than behind closed doors. The City Council allows us to use a small park area and we have stalls and entertainment in the park during the Saturday afternoon/evening: Live music, Miss Sparkle, the ‘Tranny Oscars’ and much more besides!

The Sparkle weekend is FREE to everyone who attends, but that is only made possible by the generous support of the TG community. Financial donations or the purchase of Sparkle wristbands help to raise the funds we need for the weekend. So please do help in any way you can!
