As the Mellwood Arts & Entertainment Center prepares for a Mardi Gras Ball tonight, organizers are bracing for a hurricane.
But this isn’t your typical tropical storm: This hurricane is none other than Louisville’s very own professional female impersonator, Hurricane Summers. The flashy femme will serve as the Mistress of Mayhem and host for the ball, from 9 p.m. to midnight in the center’s ballroom.
It’s sponsored by the Frankfort Avenue Business Association and is being held in conjunction with tonight’s FAT Friday Trolley Hop.
You may recognize Summers from The Connection, where she’s the hostess of the nightclub’s “LaBoy LeFemme” show. She also performs at Comedy Caravan.
“I’m a man in a dress. I’m the last of the great drag queens,” Summers cracked.
